Keeping your home sanitized during Coronavirus
Even though practicing social distancing and washing your hands is an important practice during this pandemic, it is also important to keep your home disinfected and a safe environment. This way we can prevent the spread of COVID-19 as much as possible.
HOW TO START
Keep it simple, just as you would wash you hands, wash the surfaces of what you often touch with just plain soap and water. Things like:
– Tables
– Phones
– Door knobs
– Toilets
– Sinks
– Countertops
– Keyboards
TIP: Wear disposable gloves while cleaning and disinfecting.
DISINFECTING
DISINFECTING PRODUCTS
Once you have cleaned everything, it’s time to disinfect! Some of the most common products are Lysol and Clorox (they are in the list of EPA approved products for disinfecting surfaces to help prevent COVID -19).
Other things that can be used to disinfect:
DISINFECTANT SPARY
good for carpets, couches, and things that can’t be wiped down
ALCOHOL SOLUTION – with at least 70% alcohol
HOME MADE BLEACH MIXTURE
– (good for wiping kitchen and bathroom floors)
– 5 gallons water with 1 cup bleach
TIP: Spray in sweeping motion to cover surface and let it completely dry before walking or sitting down on.
DISINFECTANT WIPES – like Clorox wipes, Lysol wipes, or Purell Wipes.
– for wiping down doorknobs, sinks, handles, remote controls, refrigerator doors, cabinets
HYDROGEN PEROXIDE
– directly pour on surfaces like your sink, countertops, or toilets.
– let it soak for 10-15 minutes
– scrub the area
– then rinse with water
Important: Do not mix household bleach with ammonia or any other cleanser
CONCLUSION
Remember cleaning your home is as important as washing your hands! Stay safe and as clean as you can to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
